IC434, Horsehead Nebula + Flame Nebula

The Horsehead Nebula is a dark nebula in the constellation Orion. The nebula is located just to the south of the star Alnitak which is visible on the photo. The nebula was first discovered in 1888 by Scottish Williamina Fleming on a photographic plate taken at the Harvard College Observatory. The Horsehead Nebula is approximately 1500 light years from Earth. The shape of its cloud of dark dust and gases resemblance a horse's head.

On the left you see NGC 2024 also known as the Flame Nebula. The Photo was taken with full Moon.
